The following is from a press release by Walnut Grove resident Larry Hamilton:
Larry Hamilton has been creating these monumental displays since 2001 and takes great pride in providing these as a demonstration of his pride of country and Christmas spirit.
These extraordinary projects are the result of many hours of volunteer work by Hamilton, his family, friends and the local community. This is a labor of love that always brings joy and a sense of pride to all who participate.
This years project is a huge 45ft statue of Jesus Christ which was originally created in 2003 and modified to become this years 54 foot tall statue. The statue is constructed, as in years past, from re-bar which has been bent and welded into place and then wrapped in lights that have been covered with clear packing tape. All the work and materials are donated by volunteers who generously give of their time and companies who give either their services or materials. Some of these services have been provided by Larry's construction company, A.L.L. Save Construction, Inc. who supplies equipment, materials and labor, McPherson Crane who donates their crane services and a host of volunteers who donate their time to erect these massive displays.
